Dear Coaches,
My name is Gabriel R Nesmith, I am currently a Senior at King George High School. I love wrestling and my goal is to become one of the best. I’d like to explain to you why I love it. Before wrestling I played baseball for 10 years and excelled in the position of catcher and second base. I started wrestling in seventh grade and immediately fell in love with the sport. The thing about baseball that frustrated me, was the complete opposite in wrestling. I no longer had to rely on the skills of 8 other players to win. The challenge of the win was all mine and I thrived in that. Win or lose, it was all on me, and I don’t like to lose. This pushes me to train harder, study more moves and give it my all. I also learned self-discipline in maintaining my weight and training that will help me the rest of my life.
During my freshman and sophomore year I did both Wrestling and Baseball but I decided to focus on the sport that I excelled at the most. My father once told me that college coaches don’t want average, they want extraordinary. He told me that I can either be average in both or I can be extraordinary in one. He played a very big part in my decision to choose wrestling because he really just wanted what was best for me and I respect his advice.
With the current pandemic many things are uncertain. My senior wrestling season could be canceled, but I’m not done wrestling. This will not be a typical year but I will do everything in my power to succeed both academically and athletically in order to secure my opportunity to wrestle for another four years.
Feel free to call or email me at your personal convenience.
Thank you for your time. God Bless.
