My athletic career started at age 4 when I began Tae Kwan do at Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwan do. I started as a white belt and became a first-degree black belt six years later. I developed leadership skills by teaching the lower belt class, as well I learned discipline through intense training with some of the best masters. I pushed myself every practice with one goal in mind to earn my black belt. I soon left Jhoon Rhee and went to Prestige Martial arts. There, I tried out for the competition team and made it three years in a row. I competed at a national level placing, 2nd, and 1st for forms at tournaments as well as placed 2nd and 3rd in sparring. I trained with the George Washington Taekwondo team. When I left Prestige sports, I gained the values of hard work and dedication through the long competition team practices on the weekends. I Developed teaching skills teaching the younger belt classes.
I took on wrestling in my 8th-grade year because my father wrestled in high school. In the beginning, I learned not just how to wrestle but how to become a better person too. I soon went into freshman year and started in and out of varsity. High school wrestling was a big game-changer because there was a more intense competition. The summer before my sophomore year was a big highlight in my high school wrestling career. I went to Jrob 14 day camp. At Jrob, I learned the values of hard work from the intense four practices every day. I learned dedication from listening to fellow college coaches and wrestlers. At the end of Jrob I learned to keep a powerful mindset. I ran a 12-mile run. I finished it in under 2 hours with a sprained ankle and earned the "I did it" shirt. Three months later, I ran the Army 10 miler with my father.
Doing taekwondo for eight years Attending Colgan High school a, performing arts school and, being on the Colgan Wrestling for the past two years, I have grown not only as a wrestler but as a person. I have learned the values of teamwork, self-motivation, dedication, and to keep a powerful mindset. I am looking for a program that can help me achieve my goals not only academically and athletically but help me achieve my goals in life through teamwork, self-motivation, and dedication. Now a first-degree black belt and a starter on varsity. I believe I have the self-motivation, dedication as well as my leadership skills to make an impact on your program.
