My goal's for college are to graduate with a 4 year degree in engineering, medical or culinary arts academically, sports wise I want to be a national placer. I am a good candidate for your team because off the mat I maintained being a scholars athlete for 4 years maintaining a 3.942 GPA, being a team captain and helping my teammates with work they may be struggling with, fundraising for school events and feeding homeless, and practicing my skills and building my strength through club wrestling and conditioning. I was a member of the national honor society and some of the things we did include clean up beaches, fundraise and donate toys for kids as well as learn to become better leaders. I was in leadership for a year and raised money for school events. Excelling in academics while a 7th grader in middle school, I was meritoriously advanced to the 9th grade taking the following character traits into consideration; Citzenship, Positive Attitude and having test scores in Math, Science and English above the Washington state averages.
On the mat I am a good teammate by helping my teammates better understanding the technical aspect of the moves the coach is drilling us on. Taking on this leadership role as a seasoned wrestler my teammates have learned Mat awareness, confidence to try moves. I take pleasure is providing feedback to the coaching staff so they know some thing we could do to better the wrestlers on the team. Being competitive and a student of the sport of wrestling, I am ready and willing to learn from my coaches and teammates. I believe by helping my teammates understand how wrestling duals and tournament point scoring in matches works has made us a better team during those events. I strive to be a good role model for my teammates by teaching them what proper mat etiquette should be before and after the match by setting an example, such as making sure they are warmed, ready to step on the mat, ensure they acknowledge the referee and of course your opponent. What I believe to set me apart from others, is I like to preach mental toughness, you should not worry about whom your next opponent is and you have to be able to accept defeat just as easily as you accept the win. This philosophy will go a long way in life as it has been taught to me by my parents and coaches for succeeding on and off the mat. I truly believe these are reasons why I am a solid candidate for your wrestling program and sets me apart from the other candidates.
