I will be wrestling at CSU - Pueblo starting in 2021.
Ever since I started wrestling in 3rd grade, I dreamed of being the best.
I started my freshman year wrestling at a large 4A school and barely made the varsity team. I had a 5-19 record and was pinned most matches. The losses were tough, but they strengthened my determination to work even harder. My sophomore year I earned a winning record and qualified for the state 4A tournament. I received the team’s most improved award based on my hard work in practice and my improvement on the mat. My junior year followed the same trend of hard work and improvement. I ended the season with a record of 36-17 with 24 pins and placed 6th at the 4A state tournament.
Wrestling is a battle of mental toughness. Who has the drive and grit to put in the hard work and who can endure through the suffering to become stronger? Through constant improvement, anyone can reach the top. I’ve learned these lessons with the help of my coaches and through the many hours spent in the practice room. I have also applied this mentality to the classroom, which has allowed me to have my academic success.
I will continue growing as a wrestler and student through my college years. My goal is to earn an engineering degree and leave a lasting positive impact on my wrestling team. In the practice room, I will lead by example through my hard work and dedication to improvement, as well as show respect to my teammates.
