Throughout many years of playing baseball, I have learned skills that have helped me succeed on the field, but just as important are the life lessons from sports that will translate into success after college. My sincere desire is to continue playing baseball while pursuing a college degree.
Baseball has shown me that commitment and effort lead to results. I've learned from some great coaches (my coaches include former professional/college players, a current MLB scout, a current MLB pitching consultant plus college and high school coaches) who have taught me solid mechanics that have progressed my skills. Team sports have also taught me to lead by example and I’m honored to serve as a captain on my club team. Being young for my class and a multi-sport athlete at a large public school where most athletes specialize in only one sport, I have experienced moments of adversity which have taught me to rebound from failure, get back to work, and focus on improvement. I’ve taken this philosophy whenever I’ve had challenges in the classroom or on the field.
Academically, I am very involved at Carlmont High School and won a Presidential Award for youth volunteering outside of school. Being that I have grown up in a family with two parents who balanced academics and athletics in high school and college, I realize that it takes time and commitment and I’m prepared to do this. I’m very excited about the opportunity to combine baseball and academics at the collegiate level and hope that I will be a fit for a good school with a team looking for someone willing to work hard and contribute.
