Personal Statement

My name is Dominique Veinstein. I am a 6'2" Middle Blocker. I have been playing indoor volleyball since the summer of 8th grade, and I am entering my 3rd fall club season playing for MVVC 17 Black. My teammates and I have successfully obtained a USA bid for JOs and received 3rd in NCVA Far Westerns this past fall season. My passion for volleyball and appreciation for my teammates has brought me great joy, and I am very grateful to be able to experience these kinds of opportunities.

On the volleyball court, I am an excellent team player who understands that each person has a role to play, but playing together as a team is what makes the difference between winning and losing. I am a middle blocker for my club team. I am also considered one of my team's most reliable and versatile player. I have been put in positions such as opposite and outside hitter. Communication is vital for a team and makes sure every player does their job correctly together like a well-oiled machine.

I have learned through training and experience that mental toughness and court smarts are equally as important as the physical aspects of the game. Whenever the team is down, or someone makes a mistake, I make sure to use words of encouragement while focusing on what we need to do to get through the next point. I focus on having a positive attitude when mistakes happen, whether I make a mistake or my teammate. One of my best character traits is that after I make a mistake during a game, I crave for the next ball to come to me to show what I can do.

I have plans to attend a college and major in Business Management as that will help me in all aspects of life. In school, I am an active student enrolled in AP and Honor classes, and I welcome all challenges. I am looking to play for a college or university that meets both my academic and athletic goals.
