Tanner Van Why '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Tanner Van Why and I am a hard working and dedicated baseball athlete at Carlmont High School in Belmont, California.  Playing baseball isn't just a pastime or a hobby for me, it is what I live to do.  I have a steadfast commitment to baseball and I have been playing year round  from the time I was 8 years old.  I turned to my love of the game as my outlet of choice to help get over the loss and grief of my father dying when I was 9 years old.   I can tell you that baseball saved me, and the more I kept playing, the more I persevered, and the harder I have strived to better my skills.  Baseball has taught me about teamwork, and the value of dedication and hard work and what the payoff is for your efforts.  It has taught me to be gracious at both winning and losing.   In order to keep playing the sport I love, I have learned what it takes to balance my time and responsibilities to manage my academics and get good grades.   Baseball has grounded me and kept me on a positive track in my life, always moving forward and looking towards the future and possibilities.   

The next step in my academic journey is to attend a four year college.  I'm looking for a school that has a strong baseball program that I can contribute to.  I work very hard at bettering myself to achieve my goals and am looking for a college that will challenge me both academically and make me a better baseball player.  I am a  extremely driven student athlete.  I know I have what it takes to contribute to your teams success and beyond .
