Will Bennett '23 Recruiting Profile

My family is the biggest influence in my life as both a student and an athlete. They have taught me that there are only a few things I can control in baseball - my attitude and my work ethic - so I have chosen to strive to make those the two most important things I focus on. I have a similar outlook on my academic life, and I have consistently chosen more difficult courses to challenge myself. I enrolled in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) program in junior high, and have continued to push myself ever since. I took geometry over the summer, for example, so I could enroll in higher level math courses throughout the rest of high school. I currently have a 4.13 GPA, and I am scheduled to take the SAT on October 4.

I am currently a varsity baseball player for Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, CA. I play the corners and most consistently first base, but my coaches have also asked me to play second base and outfield as well. I bat right and I am also a right handed pitcher with a velocity last measured in June 2021 at 83.7 mph. Last year I was chosen by my peers to be one of the JV team captains, and my coaches consistently tell me I am a leader and great teammate on and off the field. 

My future goals include to attend a college that offers a great engineering program, while also providing me with an opportunity to play baseball at a program where I can make an impact. I hope to find teammates who are like-minded and play for the team, and a coaching staff that supports my academic goals.
