My name is Jakob Perez and I am a Class of 2020 graduate of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School located in Rolling Hills Estates, California where I was awarded the 2020 Most Valuable Player Award and I was also honored to have been selected on the 2020 All Bay League Team. I am currently playing baseball at Los Angeles Harbor College. Even though our conference did not play in 2021 due to the pandemic I am grateful and excited for my future at LAHC as I hope to continue to develop playing the game that I love and becoming an even better student, person, and player. It has been fun working out with the Harbor coaches and my teammates this summer. During this past year I have worked diligently on my academics raising my GPA significantly, as well as, conditioning and strengthening myself in preparation for the upcoming season at Harbor College. I have dealt with a couple of learning disabilities my entire life, it has been difficult, but I continue to work very hard at my academics and I will never give up on reaching my goals. I am an all-around infielder but my favorite position being that of second base as I have played that position my entire life, I have also played OF. Although I no longer pitch I take pride on my accomplishments in high school and helping my team on the bump. I began pitching in 10th grade and I was a middle reliever for the Varsity Team and the closer for the Junior Varsity team. I especially take pride in my continued development as a hitter and during this past year I have strengthened my approach and discipline at the plate and have let my strength and conditioning aid me in being able to drive the ball with power to all fields. In the abbreviated 2020 season (10 games) I led my team with a .353 BA and going back to my Frosh season I led my team with a .484 BA. I flat out love to hit. I love playing 2B, SS, 3B and OF as well. In the summer of 2019 I played for the South Bay Saints which is run by Coach Murphy Su'a at West Los Angeles College. Coach Su'a has been a fantastic coach and mentor and has raised my skills to another level. In the summer of 2020 and fall of 2019 I played for APS, coached by Darren 'Coco' Nicholson who helped further my overall development in all aspects. Aside from my training on the diamond, I have trained at Shift Performance Gym in Redondo Beach, CA with MLB trainer, Ryan Cadaret. I am majoring in Business at LAHC and wish to transfer to a 4 yr university to major in Sports Business Management as I would like to have a career in sports and athletic related industries. I hope to have 1-2 amazing years playing baseball at LAHC with the hope of transferring and continuing to play baseball at the university level. I also wanted to thank my Peninsula High School Baseball Coach, Derek 'D-Nic' Nicholson, for believing in me, for always being there for me and my teammates on and off the field - I could not be here without his guidance, his friendship means the world to me. I sincerely thank you for your time and hope that you may take interest in my skills and more importantly as a genuine and hardworking person.
