I have been playing baseball my whole life, but my high school years are what really shaped and developed me as a player and student. My coach tells us that we are owed nothing and that we need to play with that kind of mentality to win. If we take our training and talent for granted, we will not be able to accomplish as much. I believe that to be successful you need to work hard and compete.
The word compete was the main idea that I played by. In my freshman year, my pitching coach told me that the results didn't matter as long as I made good, competitive pitches. As a part of any program, I will do my best to compete in every way possible. I will compete pitch by pitch until my job is done. Winning is always fun, but playing hard no matter what is more important.
