My name is Seth Lopez and I am a junior at Redwood High School in Visalia, California. I am a catcher with a top pop time of 1.88 and an exit velocity of 94. I started playing baseball when I was four years old and immediately admired that the catcher was involved in every play. Since then, I have worked really hard to improve. Not only do I want to be the best catcher possible, but I also desire to be the most valuable player I can be in any game situation. I achieve that goal by always working hard at team practices, taking additional batting and catching practice, attending infield training to keep my footwork quick, and working out at the gym. Additionally, I take dance classes in school to increase my flexibility for catching. I also believe it is very important to be a great teammate. Whether it be going out to the mound and telling a joke to my pitcher to get them to relax and refocus, or cheering loudly for a great play or big hit, I love it all.
I keep the mindset of maximum contribution and effort in every aspect of my life. I am a 4.0 student and involved in California Scholastic Federation (CSF). I became interested in engineering in 7th grade when I joined my school’s robotics team. After knowing nothing about robotics, I was able to become the team captain the next year. Now I am in the Engineering and Architectural Pathway at my high school. For fun I love to watch and follow Formula 1 racing and hang out with my friends.
My goal is to play baseball at the collegiate level and pursue an engineering degree.
