Unless a person has been in a family with triplets, it is hard to describe what it is like. The “triplet experience” was, at times, incredibly difficult on my family but it also brought us together and made us a fighting unit. My family is the driving force behind my passion for water polo. While I am very proud of my accomplishments in the pool, what is most important to me is how I fit on the team and what I can do to contribute to my team: something I learned when I transitioned to my first competitive club team. Bulldog Water Polo Club pushed me to work harder than I ever had before; and, regardless of my age, who I was, who I knew, who I didn’t know, my abilities were always recognized first. There was no politics or favoritism on that team. This was something I recognized and appreciated and what I believe contributed to the team, in their first year, winning Bronze in the Gold Division in Junior Olympics. That experience, working with a coach that pushes players to their limit, develops players talent and recognizes and celebrates teamwork, has defined who I am as a water polo player; helping me start as a freshman on varsity at a large high school, leading my team to an undefeated season and being recognized as a crucial part of the team. It also helped develop what I feel is one of my strongest skills: knowing how to read what is happening in the pool. I feel I have come a long way from the tiny swimmer that decided to follow her older sister and play water polo to the person who absolutely loves water polo and who has a clear vision about how the sport will shape my academic path. I look forward to 2 more years of high school water polo, club water polo and anywhere the sport takes me. Ultimately, I want to attend the university of my choice and be part of a larger team and continue growing and developing.
