For as long as I can remember, I have immersed myself into the game of baseball. Even before I was able to play T-ball, I could be found standing in front of our television mimicking big-league players' pitches to home plate. Growing up in Connecticut, I am a loyal Red Sox fan, starting with wearing my Matt Damon #18 jersey every day and Red Sox jackets and hats when traveling - particularly to New York City. Even in the face of good-natured ribbing by NY Yankees fans, I supported my team and took the comments in stride. Team loyalty is my strong point.
Feedback over the years has focused on my skill as a catcher, being easily coachable, impressive heads-up base running abilities, and my positive team-centered attitude. The 2018 PBR assessment included "The top tool is his ability to work behind the plate. The pop time was 2.06- 2.25, arm works out of a higher slot, arm is clean on the backside, arm was clocked at 71 mph, with life coming out of his hand. The feet are quick in the transfer, no wasted movement, closes down the front side and gets out front on release, baseball is thrown on the proper side of the bag. The hands have improved on the catch, gets underneath the low pitch and works hard to get around the baseball in the block position, quickly scrambles to get to his feet. The legs are quick, ran a 4.17 30 yard-dash, has an athletic kick to him."
Although it has not been easy, I have had the fortune of being able to play for a number of highly talented Connecticut travel baseball teams including the Manchester Mayhem, Team Connecticut Baseball, and the Hartford Capitals, culminating in playing for the Connecticut Blue Jays 18u Elite Team for coach Mike McGuire this summer. This exposure has given me unique opportunities to meet new teammates, be coached by some of the best leaders, and demonstrate my ability to step in and offer my abilities as a utility player in several positions - primarily as a catcher, but also third base, first base and outfield. By taking on these varying positions and their challenges, I have not only progressed with my skills development, but I have grown into a more determined, confident and reliable team player.
I am looking to develop myself as both a baseball player and an individual, and I would like to take myself to the next level of play. I am currently a rising senior in the process of evaluating colleges and baseball programs, with a focus on those schools and programs that will challenge me academically and on the field. I am looking to find the right match to my 3.7/4.0 GPA and 1360 SAT, 7.29 second 60-yard dash, and 2.06 second pop time behind the plate.
