Hi, my name is Harrison Knaupe. I play shortstop and second base for both Smyrna High School and the American Legion. My senior season for both of these teams has been shut down. It feels horrible knowing I needed this season and that this was my biggest opportunity to put my name out there. I haven't been handed anything when it comes to baseball and this is just another example of that and I know I will become a better ballplayer and person because of these challenges. I actually never been apart of a travel ball team. I did try out for the Delaware State Hornets travel team and made the team, only to receive a call stating they had documented my birthday incorrectly and that I was 2 months too old. I thought at first this was a disadvantage but I have now learned that not playing travel ball gave me enough time for weight training and recovery while playing enough baseball with Smyrna High School, both Dover and Smyrna Little Leagues, and the American Legion. Because of my challenges I have become a very hard-working player, I may not be stronger or faster than everyone out there but no one can top my work ethic. I was made team captain during my Junior year due to my positive attitude and ability to motivate the team.
