When it comes to me and my family, we were very big on being successful in all aspects of life. But it started with me and my education. I always looked forward to school due to the amount of things I learn everyday. I'm like a sponge when it comes to learning something new and of benefit to me. Not only in school, but in my everyday life away from school. This mentality has helped me excel in my classes, even when it seemed like the challenges would be tough to get through.
As I grew up, I was taught and shown things that I would take interest in. My first love was baseball. My dad was my trainer, coach, nutritionist, and sponsor all in one. He tried his best to raise me to become the best first baseman that the Fox Chase Rec Center had ever seen. He kept me in line and kept me striving for more everyday. If it was a drill, a math problem, or even a question I was asked and did not know the answer, he would keep pushing until it was done right.
From time to time I played other sports but baseball was always with me. My dad and I would always work to make sure I was performing the best I could be. I tried out for my team and made it to be the starting center fielder for my school. Center field wasn't for me until I saw my potential at the position. My athleticism skyrocketed that year so I became the fastest on my team. Since our team was fairly new we didn’t produce as a team but individually we produced. After 7 years of leaving the sport, I came back with a .200 batting average, and hitting 2 home runs in our short season, which I never expected to happen! As my Senior begins, I have no doubt I will produce more than what I did junior year. So much that I can take my school to the state championship.
With sports being one of my main hobbies, music has always been there as well. I was able to listen to all kinds of music. Such as Hip Hop, RnB, Pop, Rock, Metal, House, Latin, and even Christian music. During my freshman year, I was able to get recording gear and a computer to try to make some of my own music. It was very hard at first because the components were difficult to use or understand, and when the finished product was released, I never liked how it sounded. So I took time to learn each side of music production and got better over time. Each summer from that point on I made tons of music which indicated improvement everytime. But, the summer of Junior year was special. I took time to not record at all and learn how to make my own beats. At first they were hard to listen to due to how bad it sounded but I learned the mechanics within 2 weeks and have been making all types of music ever since. With my hard work and perseverance, I was able to work with industry musicians to make music with them. With this confidence to make more and release to the public, I’m hoping to turn my hobby into a profession. I am determined to work harder into this next step of my life to get closer to my dreams, because without dreams there is no true purpose in life. All of us have dreams but who is willing to put their all into achieving them? Very little, and I am in that percentage. I am willing to do whatever it takes to become the best version of myself as I can be. And that next step starts with the tools that are provided.
