Living in Florida has provided me the opportunity to play a very high level of competition across both high school and travel. My experience playing with these teams has helped make me the player I am today.
One of my favorite travel ball experiences was representing the state of Florida as part of USSSA and Florida Travel Baseball Showcase teams. In addition, I got the opportunity every player hopes for, starting pitcher against our rival high school as a Freshman. I pitched five innings allowing no runs and no walks with a win. The experience is a favorite of my high school career to date. Like most players, my Sophomore season was cut short with the pandemic. I’m excited about my current season, and the ability to play with and against some of the most talented baseball players around Florida.
I have also had some challenges. Many of my teammates grew taller and stronger early in high school, but I did not begin growing until much later. Now I am 6’2” and 160 lbs. I had to push myself to work hard and trust my efforts would pay off. Fortunately, I was able to remain competitive during those years, while developing a strong work ethic on and off the field. I’m a better player today for the adversity.
Academics are also important to me. I am currently part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB), which is a tough program focused on college level classes beginning my Freshman year. The opportunity to combine academics and my love for baseball beyond high school is what motivates me. I will graduate high school at 17 (turning 18 years old July following completion of my senior year). I look forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead.
