My name is Brody Maynard, and I am a 2019 graduate attending Ponte Vedra High School. I am a left handed pitcher and my ultimate goal is to play college baseball at a school with a great baseball program, along with a strong business school where I can pursue a high level degree. My schedule consists of three AP classes and three honors classes, as well as being a part of the International Business and Marketing Academy. I am an active member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Science Honor Society, where I volunteer throughout the community as well as provide tutoring sessions before school. I also participate in the Rising Stars program, where I volunteer and teach the game of baseball to disabled youth several weekends throughout the spring. I love playing the game of baseball and spend a lot of time perfecting my craft and becoming the best player I can be. I am continuously working to improve myself in the classroom and on the baseball field and see myself as a leader.
I suffered a nerve injury in my throwing arm one week before the start of my junior year high school season, and it sidelined me until the last game of the regular season, where I threw 2/3 of an inning in my return. My next outing was a six out save in our district championship game. Though it was one of the toughest experiences of my life, I am grateful for everything I learned during that time. I decided to train at the Florida Baseball Ranch during the summer, and that greatly helped me create a path to help regain my lost strength and improve as a pitcher. I am continuing to work on increasing my velocity and staying healthy.
