My name is Alex Armstrong and I have loved baseball my entire life. Whenever I'm at home not playing , I dream about the game. I have a passion for playing it and living it and performing in an exceptional way. The best part about playing baseball is the control you have on the mound and no one can take that away from you. That is the best feeling in the world!
The last two years I've dedicated my time to being a starting pitcher. My stats went up immensely from being a good pitcher to the best pitcher on the team. My travel ball coach calls me "Ace". Also, he compares me to Greg Maddox and Tom Glavine and I'm very proud of that. I have pitched on three championship games during this period of time with great success.
During my Freshman year at Kings Ridge Christian School, I didn't realize I needed to get stronger in order to pitch with the Varsity Team. So, I put myself in weight lifting program and after six months and I put on 20 pounds. This hard work gave me the endurance needed to play the game consistently. This helped me in addition by improving my fastball velocity from 68-71 mph to 82-85 mph. In the meantime, while I was improving my nutrition, my physique and constant level of skill practice, something amazing happened. After the my first pitching outing at JV level, I was called up to play at the Varsity team. It was an amazing experience playing at that level as a Freshman.
I'm very committed to playing baseball at the college level and succeed. I'm looking forward to the challenge and to improve my pitching skills to a higher level and to be the best possible pitcher I can possibly be.
