I am looking for a college that academically challenges me within my career learning so that I am prepared for the real world after my 4 years. I am a hard-working team player with a competitive spirit and a love for baseball, so in my athletics, I want the same from the team I play for.
Sports have always been an important part of my life. When I was little, I was very active, playing basketball, golf, soccer, volleyball, etc. As I grew older baseball became my primary sport. Although the basics were easy to grasp, I quickly saw the complexity of truly understanding the game and was intrigued enough to accept the challenge of this mentally tough sport. Tackling these problems early gave me a head start in my understanding of the game allowing me to take on the role of a leader within the programs I played for.
Leadership and dedication may have come easy to me, but one thing that did not come easy to me within baseball was the acceptance of failure. At times my competitive spirit could overwhelm me forcing me into frustration. Over the years, I have learned baseball is a game of failure and that controlling these frustrations are important to allow me to increase my performance on the field and the bonds with my teammates. Now I LOVE getting on the fence, GETTING LOUD, and cheering on my teammates or bettering myself in the game.
As for in the classroom, my goal for high school is to maintain a high GPA. The fear of not being able to play collegiate baseball because of a few bad grades haunts me into striving to do my best. Although this fear is my push, I understand that the knowledge and skills I am gaining within my academics are invaluable to my personal growth. My goal for college academics are exactly the same: maintain a good GPA so that I may continue playing baseball while also gathering skills to use towards my career.
