My playing has been recognized a lot, but first let me tell you who I am. The most important thing you need to know is that no one works harder. Baseball has been my life since I was in diapers, and I realize that a lot of my athletic talent comes naturally. But as one of the youngest in my class, I’ve always had to prove myself. That means every day in the gym: lifting, over-all strength building, hitting, field work, speed and agility. I have tremendous perseverance, and I enjoy every minute.
Making varsity as a freshman was a big statement. Even before try-outs, I joined the varsity players in the gym every day after school. I was written up by PBR for going 7/10 in my first three varsity games and was recognized at the end of the season by the Chicago Tribune as an All-Area Honorable Mention, the only freshman who made the list.
My playing is strong overall, but where I feel I am my best is when playing defense in the infield or outfield. You might say I am gritty and exciting to watch. I do everything in my power to make every play and use my gift of high baseball IQ. I give my all for the team. I have team spirit and great sportsmanship. I am kind and a good friend to my teammates. And I’m extremely coachable.
Before you think I have a big ego, I will admit that I am working very hard to apply my ability on the field to my academics. My freshman GPA was just above a B average (3.13), and my first semester, sophomore year finished with a 3.6 GPA. I have no intention of slowing down either on or off the field.I’m grateful for the recognition I’ve received:
