Personal Statement

Preparing for my 2022-2023 sophomore year at College of the Desert JUCO in Palm Desert, California, looking to play D-I ball at a four-year-university in 2023-2024.

I'm an athletic 6'-1" outfielder with 90+ throwing velo and 6.75 60-yard-dash.   I've got the versatility to play 3rd or 2nd base and was a 2019 Chicago Daily Herald BASKETBALL First-Team All-Area, All-Conference Lake County IL point-guard and 3-year starter in centerfield for the Grayslake Central High (IL) varsity baseball team.

My hope is to be part of an inspiring team, under the leadership of a strong and experienced coach. I’m eager to learn and compete with the best, because that’s how you get better.  I believe sports can be a platform for good and you can be a mentor to others. I enjoy learning about the brain and psychology, and how we can lift each other up to become better.

I've made big jumps from northern Illinois prep baseball and American Legion ball to fiercely-competative California JUCO baseball (no Chicago  Summer club baseball due to my high school basketball commitments, playing for a high level AAU basketball team).  But now I can finally focus 100% on college baseball.   My freshman year, I contributed to College of the Desert's 2022 Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship and I'm working hard for a breakthrough season in 2022-2023.

"The California Winter League offers free agent baseball players the opportunity to play live games for a month in Palm Springs, CA in front of scouts from Major League Baseball and managers from professional independent league teams. These scouts and managers come to Palm Springs every year to be a part of the CWL coaching staff, work with CWL players on a daily basis, and determine which CWL players they will sign before they head off to spring training later in the spring. Every year, around 40% of CWL players receive a contract offer from either an MLB organization or a professional independent team."-

Training

  • Hitting
  • 7 years
  • I love the crack of a wood bat. I’m a contact hitter who puts the ball in play. I practice discipline at the plate, earning high QABs (61.5% in 2018 Varsity play). In conference league play, I hit .422 with only seven strikeouts. I've gained consistent power with my mentor & hitting coach Jim Cooney, who trained as a Texas Ranger with Rudy Jaramillo. My swing technique is to hit down on the ball, creating line drives or sharply hit grounders - no pop flies. I use my speed and instincts on the base paths to steal bases and earn runs. I'm versatile and dependable, able to play Catcher, Middle Infield and Center Field.
