PG Grade 8, Write-up/ Matt Santarelli is a 2021 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Homer Glen, IL who attends Lockport Township East. Medium frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout. Recorded a 7.08 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with very athletic actions, works to and through the ball well, smooth hands and clean transfers, shows accuracy to bag from multiple slots with good arm strength recorded up to 82 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher, deliberate delivery with simple actions, stays tall on the back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions, medium arm circle to a three-quarters arm slot, fastball showed downhill tilt through the zone and showed feel for a curveball with 11-to-5 shape, tight spin and late depth. Right-handed hitter, spread setup with a deep hand set, shifts weight well into swing, showed good hand speed with a rotational upper half, ball comes off well when squared. Great student.

Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, aggressive swing. Short level bat path at times, line-drive approach and fluid rhythm; 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, quick active footwork, sure-hands, plays through the baseball, clean release. Loose arm action, throws carried and topped at 82 mph across the infield. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, smooth delivery, works on-line and lands front toe closed. Clean arm action, over-the-top slot. Fastball straight action, 77-78 mph. Curveball tight spin, depth, 11/5 shape, 66-68 mph. Changeup, 71-75 mph.

Showcase ran by PBR-- 5-foot-10, 150-pound, right-handed hitting/throwing two-way player, athletic frame. Offensively, balanced setup, front foot closed, hands pre-loaded back, short toe drag stride. Barrel path is level and long, line drive ability to all fields, fluid rhythm through contact. Generates bat speed, exit velocity topped 80 mph from a tee. Defensively quick footwork, hands work through the baseball, exchanges are quick and clean. Early draw out of the glove, arm plays long with arm speed, high ¾ slot, throws topped 82 mph across the diamond. 7.26 runner in the 60. On the mound, quick foot turn to high knee balance, works in-line, toe lands closed, athletic finish. High front side, short arm action, arm speeds through an over the top slot, easy effort and rhythm throughout. Fastball worked straight, 77-78 mph. Curveball, 12/6 break, tight spin down, 62-66 mph. Changeup, maintained arm speed, occasional fade, 65-70 mph.

Showcase ran by PBR-- 5-foot-9, 140-pound, well-proportioned right-handed hitting two-way prospect. At the plate, open setup, short stride with a minimal back load. Showed pull side tendencies with an uphill bat path, can create lift through swing with balance throughout. Exit velocity topped 75 mph off a tee. Ran a laser timed 7.85 60. Defensively, quick footwork, clean exchange, long arm action with a high ¾ slot. Utilized multiple arm slots during infield drills. Throws were accurate and topped 76 mph across the infield. Right-handed pitcher, slight drop and drive style, directionally in line, closed landing with a slight fall to third base at finish. High ¾ slot, short arm with some arm speed. Fastball was straight, around the zone at 73-74 mph; topped 75 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, solid spin, ranged 58-65 mph. Changeup maintained arm speed, sank, 62-65 mph.
