Making the varsity team as a freshman was an exciting accomplishment, but also presented challenges. I needed to quickly adapt to the speed of play and the complexity of the game at the varsity level. This experience reinforced the lessons I am learning throughout my life. I have learned the value of giving your all while working and hunting at my great grandparents farm. Hiking through challenging terrain in remote areas has taught me the importance of preparation, teamwork, and the ability to persevere to accomplish a set goal. These life lessons allowed me to grow throughout the season and focus my energy on becoming a vital part of the team.
Baseball has given me an opportunity to embrace seek out feedback that allows me to continuously reflect, revise and grow as a player and a community member. Over the years, I have learned and experienced the importance of confidence, teamwork, and humility and their effect on the game and our relationships with others. I will continue to challenge myself through my high school academic career by taking courses that require critical thinking skills. I am seeking a college experience that will not only challenge and guide me along my career path, but one that will also instill the desire and importance of finding ways to give back to my community.
