I feel like I have really grown as a baseball player from my freshman to sophomore season. My high school coach wanted me to be on the field with the varsity team at all times for defense and offense my freshman year. He put me behind the plate as catcher because he knows I am smart and that I know the game of baseball. I had not played catcher for my travel summer team, so it was a new position for me. I really did not want to take on this role as catcher but knew it would get me in the starting lineup. I have played all varsity games as a catcher my freshman and sophomore years. I could have been upset and not accepted this challenge from my coach, however, I have embraced the role of catcher and continue to work to get better and better. This experience has helped me grow as a person and has lead me to work hard to become a solid catcher capable of playing at the college level.
Through baseball and basketball I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and leadership. I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
