Josh Gill '21 Recruiting Profile

            College is more than just four more years of schooling. College is four more years to build my academic and physical skills, four more years to learn how to set the rest of my life up. Four years more to play the game I have loved the most.

             I've loved baseball since Little League. Obviously, passion for something doesn't give a free pass for development, it isn't handed to you, there's trusting the ones who are instructing you. It's learning to be a "Team Player" and giving back with as much intent and encouragement as the ones who invested in me. This is why I worked up to be my high school's team captain. I've learned the hardships of how to be encouraging  when the team didn't do so well or, to boost morale when we did. It's fully understood that you never stop competing to get better, so give me any coachable figurehead, and I'll listen like that's my dad. I'm eager to hear new ideas, opinions, and tricks or training techniques. And I'm also more than willing to take that information and help my peers. Its not just about me when it comes to a team, but everyone. Our team, a multitude of athletes, and in college, athletes with the same goal and desire - to be the best that we can be.

              What sets me apart isn't my sole uniqueness but, my ability to emulate and adapt. I went from 72mph to 81mph in a week of studying various pitching mentors and idealists. More progress is to come, this I'm confident of, especially now that I am getting professional training. Tell me to mimic something - I'll mimic it, tell me to repeat something - I'll repeat it, Instruct me to learn something - believe me, I'll be practicing. Give me mentoring and I'll take it like it's a Bible Commandment. Ask for 100% - then expect no less.

It's important for me to do well for my coach, my team...myself - This is who I am.
