I have loved baseball ever since I was old enough to understand the game. Like many current baseball players, my love for the game started at a very young age. My parents introduced my brother and I to the greatest sport on Earth as soon as we were able to hold a baseball. Right from the beginning, I fell in love with it. Throughout my life it has been the constant. Other hobbies have come and gone, but baseball has always been my greatest passion. Spring marks the start of a new year for me and my family. My brain doesn’t flip the calendar to a new year until the birds are chirping and I have a baseball in my hand.
I have always enjoyed competing and playing at the highest level possible to really push myself. Because of this, playing baseball in college has always been a dream of mine. I enjoy the routine and grind of playing baseball every day. I will never back down from a challenge; I embrace every difficulty as a way to grow and I never let it sink me. I will always carry a positive attitude into every day.
I also take pride in being a student of the game. If there’s a game on, I’m most likely watching it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Major League game or a college game, I watch any game just to focus on the little things, and see how I can learn to improve my own game. One of my favorite quotes by Yogi Berra says, “you can observe a lot by just watching.” I completely agree with this statement and it’s something I live by.
Whether I'm in the classroom or on the baseball diamond, I have a natural desire to learn. Everyday I try to soak up as much as I can and I always look for new ways to grow and improve as a person. I can guarantee that this will never go away. I believe this will serve me well as a college player. I have been dreaming about playing baseball at a high level for as long as I can remember, and becoming a college athlete would be an incredible experience.
