Baseball is one of the most important things in my life. I began playing when I was five years old and have played ever since. In addition to Little League, and freshman baseball at my high school, I have played travel baseball since I was 12 years old with two different programs, as well as on a showcase league team this past fall. (Like most areas of the country, I did not have a sophomore year high school baseball season due to the pandemic.) At this point in my baseball career, I am predominantly an outfielder, but can play where needed.
My experiences with my travel teams in particular have exposed me to many different team rosters, coaches and coaching styles. I have successfully adapted within each team, and have consistently been recognized for being a good listener and a ‘coachable’ player. At times these teams have struggled to be competitive in games and at tournaments. Those challenging days taught me perseverance. Always work to find ways to play your hardest, regardless of the score or the W/L record. In one tournament in 2020, my team was in last place in our division at the end of the first day. On the second day, we were down to 10 players. We fought hard to oust the top seeded team, and then successfully won the second game as well, putting us in the Championship Game! That weekend and what I went through with my team taught me a lot about persevering, playing hard and playing smart, and it was the best weekend of my 2020 season.
So far in my high school academic career, I have challenged myself by taking several honors courses: English, Latin and Economics. When I think about where I would like to go to college, I would like to go to a school with varied academic offerings because I am not sure of my major at this point. I would also like to have a challenging course of study.
I am looking for a school that will provide me with the opportunity to get a great education and prepare me for the working world, and would love to be able to fulfill my dream of playing college level baseball.
