My name is Ian Keusch, and I’m a rising junior at The Rivers School in Weston, MA. I’m a 6’0”, 170 pound pitcher and third baseman. Last spring, I completed my first varsity season. I was fortunate enough to be the number one, starting pitcher. With the shortened season, I pitched 6 games and finished 4-2 with three complete games. I was particularly proud of the fact that I pitched a complete game against one of our biggest rivals who we had not beaten in 23 years. I currently have a 4.1 (out of 4.0) cumulative GPA.
My goal is to find a collegiate program where I can achieve my academic aspirations while also making a meaningful contribution on the baseball field. I consider myself a candidate who is equally vested in academics as I am in athletics. I take the same, serious level of discipline, hard work and sacrifice into the classroom as I do in my baseball development. Coming from a rigorous prep school that plays in a highly competitive prep school league, I feel like I am prepared for high level competition on the field as well as the academic demands of a highly selective college or university. My success thus far has not come easy, so I have a unique appreciation for what it takes to persevere beyond disappointments and failures. Challenges I have faced both on and off the field have only made me more determined to work hard and prove people wrong. I am extremely self-disciplined and self-motivated, and I am driven by an innate desire to succeed. I have learned that there will always be others who are smarter, faster, or more naturally gifted, but nothing will ever stop me from working that much harder to be able to compete with the best both in the classroom and on the field.
My coach describes me as someone who is in complete control on the mound as well as a pitcher who throws with great accuracy. Since the end of the season, I’ve been working closely with Cressey Performance on enhancing my throwing motion to increase velocity. I’m also working out 5 times a week with their tailored strengthening and conditioning program. I am confident that Cressey is going to be instrumental in taking me to the next level. Last summer, I played on a tournament team for GBG Hawks.
