If the first three years of my high school career have taught me anything, it has taught me how to work. Starting at the bottom as a freshman, having to earn the respect of upperclassmen, made me set goals that forced me to develop a work ethic. The same drive and want carried off the field and into my academics. I host an average GPA of 3.9 and have challenged myself by taking two AP courses my sophomore year as well as 4 AP courses my Junior year, not including several challenging electives. I plan to challenge myself academically in college, with the goal of dual majoring in business and economics. Academics come first for me, but that doesn't mean my athletic career is not a priority.
My mindset doesn't change when I step onto the diamond, or off for that matter. My goal when I step onto the diamond can be summed up in four words, I want to win. My competitiveness is probably one of the strongest aspects of my game. A desire to be better than the player standing to the right and left of me is another one of my strongest aspects, besides my want to win. A firm belief of mine is that the amount of opportunities you get depends on how much work you put in, and that is how I practice and play. My love for the game is the final aspect of my game that I take great pride in. The love for the game makes everything that much more enjoyable, because baseball is a game of failure, mistakes are going to happen. I've made plenty of mistakes throughout my time playing baseball. My ability to forget about those mistakes and move on, enjoying the game every chance I get, makes me an athlete that can work through the slumps, bad outings, and bad games. The goal of anything at a collegiate level, whether it be academics or sports, is to challenge the individual and that is exactly what I want, the challenge.
