Lucas Golovcsenko '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Lucas Golovcsenko. Baseball has been a significant part of my life since kindergarten, including playing, watching, traveling to local minor league games and diving into analytics. I hope to become a productive player and teammate while pursuing my studies at a strong academic college. I look forward to being a part of a team and an active member of the campus community. In 2022 I was the only freshman on varsity and in 2023 I started again on the mound and in left field, leading the team in batting average. Pitching wise, I rely on my fastball and changeup combo, that I have been throwing since little league, while mixing in a slider to throw off hitters. After both seasons in varsity, I was selected to play in the 2022 Hudson Valley Top 100 Game and awarded All-League Honorable Mention. I am very coachable, driven, dedicated and seek out feedback from teammates and coaches to improve my game, while forming life long relationships. My real time baseball IQ and ability to self assess and adjust mechanics improves my game. Baseball is my passion and my dream is to continue playing at a collegiate level. 

I started taking high school classes in 8th grade, take high level honors and AP courses as a sophomore, and look forward to continuing this academic rigor for the remainder of high school. Off the field, I am an avid guitarist, composing and performing jazz and pop, both in school and at outside venues. I won a New York State Award of Merit for my original guitar composition in 2022. I am a regular on the schedule, "Chess and Rummikub with Lucas," at a local assisted living and memory care facility. I enjoy spending time using saber-metrics to inform decisions for my baseball card business and donate 5% of my sales to personally meaningful charities.
