Personal Statement

I have had aspirations of playing for a college baseball team for many years, and the time has come to show just how badly I want it. I fell in love with this sport at a very young age. I began playing at the age of 3 and have not stopped. This game has become a vital part of my life and has even influenced me and made me the person that I am today. This game has humbled me and made me realize that it is not important how good you may think you are, but rather how much better you make those around you. Baseball has also made me see just how strong you have to be in life as it teaches that in life you will fail quite often and you have to persevere and push through the struggles.

Along with my major athletic goals like being on a competitive team and making a good impact on that team, I have lofty academic goals as well. I would like to major in biology or chemistry to become a veterinarian. I am looking for a school in the eastern section of the United States that will help me succeed in achieving both types of goals. I aim to be a leader not only on the field, but also in the classroom. So far I have succeeded in doing this, as my teachers as well as my coaches look to me as a leader to set an example for my classmates and teammates. With this game there are many obstacles that must be overcome. A big one for me and with the rest of my team was making it to the playoffs and being eliminated just one game short of being in the championship game.  After this experience I knew I had to work harder and help propel my team to the championship the next season. I have improved but am always looking to get even better. Along with the desire, I have the work-ethic and dedication to do this because I know that I am the only one that can make me better.
