My name is Matt Bowman and I pitch and play both corner infield positions for Union Endicott High School in Endicott, New York. I also play football and basketball, but am most passionate about baseball. I aspire to play college baseball and have worked hard both on and off the field to prepare myself. I have played baseball since I was six years old, having played for numerous all-star teams and travel teams, as well as High School and American Legion teams. I have spent the past few years getting extra instruction and training at the Raleigh Baseball Institute in Endwell, New York, focusing on pitching, hitting and fielding.
I pride myself on being a leader as well as a team player and feel that these attributes will help me be successful at the collegiate level. I understand the importance of a good education and know that it takes a lot of hard work to be a student athlete. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead of me and plan to work hard on the field and in the classroom. I am blessed to have wonderful parents who have raised me to be respectful and to work hard at anything I do. I am very competitive and strive to do my best at all times.
I missed my junior season of baseball due to having a benign tumor removed from my femur in March ( 2014). I was supposed to be held out of sports activities for several months, but I worked extremely hard at recovering and was cleared to play summer baseball in July (2014). I am playing football at this time and feel stronger than ever. I believe that the type of work ethic and determination that I showed in my recovery is exactly the type of characteristics that will make me successful playing baseball at the collegiate level.
