Personal Statement

Baseball Factory Profile: http://members.baseballfactory.com/player/anthony/capogna/dd554984d824453d87d6fca8106e5324

My name is Anthony Capogna and since the age of two, I have been participating in many sports. These include basketball, soccer, ice hockey, and baseball. I was captain of my middle school baseball and my town's soccer club teams.  All of these sports have contributed greatly to my athleticism and drive to the best student-athlete I can be. I believe that participating in all these sports made me the baseball player that I am today.

I have been very fortunate to be able to call myself a baseball player since the age of 6.  From the moment I started I knew that baseball was to become my main focus.  Baseball has helped me grow not just as an athlete but as a person too.  Being a catcher has taught me the importance of composure under times of high pressure, confidence, and teamwork. I am so grateful for all of the countless opportunities I have had through all of the people who have supported me on and off the field.

I have been described  as very easy to coach, hard working, and smart player by many coaches and trainers that I have had the privilege of working with throughout the years.  In ninth grade I enrolled in St Anthony's High School for its academic and athletic excellence. As a freshman I was a starter at the junior varsity level,  after the second game was moved up to play the varsity level. As a sophomore, I made the varsity team and I am working hard to continue to improve my game. Since 2016 I have attended CatcherMTRX,  which is one of the regions premier clinics.  I am proud to say since 2016 I've been a part of Long Islands's top travel baseball program, the Long Island Titans. Ultimately, I want to be in a college community that will give me a challenging and well rounded athletic and academic experience. My main goal is to reach my best potential academically and athletically with baseball.

  • "Anthony is an athletic and talented 2021 Catching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week. Behind the dish, Anthony starts in a quiet primary stance, he shows a low target, and works behind the ball well. He has a nothing gets by me mentality when blocking and does anything and everything to keep the ball in front of him. He's mentality tough and has good leadership skills on the field. When throwing he gains ground with a clean exchange and a quick release. At the plate, Anthony has a middle approach and makes consistent contact to all fields. He had several good AB's and ambushed a few fastballs early in counts. He has a simple load and gets to balance but needs to continue to create backside drive. Clearing his back hip will help him generate more power and improve bat speed. Anthony will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future."

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
