My name is Paulie Goodness. I am a 2022 graduate at Palmyra-Macedon Central School District in Palmyra, NY. I am currently a Sophomore in High School there. My family believes in hard work and have supported my endeavors as long as my performance in the classroom was strong, and I was robust socially and emotionally. I have always challenged myself in school and on any playing field. Frequently facing challenges that are designed for older athletes/students.
During my 8th grade year, I was brought up to Varsity Baseball to play second base. I started almost every game at second base, and if I wasn't starting at second, I was starting pitching. I became the youngest Varsity Baseball player to pitch a no-hitter in New York State (14 y/o). My freshman year, I started at ss, 2b, and batted two on a league championship team. We went 15-5 and were projected to be in last place by the media at the beginning of the season. My love is CF, but I am needed more as a MIF on my school team. During my freshman year, I battled a high hamstring strain for most of the year and only pitched three innings of school ball due to that injury. Even with that injury, I received division honors, making the 3rd team as an injured freshman. Although my batting and pitching has been celebrated and highlighted by most, my foundation is my clean and strong defense.
The club team I play for is called Team PAC. Team PAC is a highly competitive team traveling around the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio playing tournaments in New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and even winning a tournament in South Carolina, competing against tough competition. I am the starting CF, back up ss/2b, and the 4 hitter for team PAC. My position at 4 in the batting line up was for my ability to work the count, make contact and get on base then eventually find my way to third through my base running allowing some of the bigger hitters to get pitched to differently lower in the batting order to see better pitches. We all know the 3/4 hitter gets thrown to differently than the 6/7 hitter. My love is CF; however, I am very versatile, and my defense is sound, which makes me usually the best or second-best defensively at all positions (but not catcher anymore). I strive to be the best defensively at every position.
I also play basketball at a high level. I also was brought up early is basketball to be the starting Point Guard on my school's Junior Varsity basketball team as an 8th grader. During my freshman year, I became the starting Point Guard for Varsity. I usually come off the court only if I am in foul trouble.
I have worked hard to become the best at both Baseball and Basketball. My number one goal, however, is to become much bigger and stronger as I'm occasionally criticized for my size in both sports. My skills and hard work have made me excel in both sports, not "size." I may not look the part at first, but I always have let my play speak for itself. I know the size will come because my family has a history of large "late blooming" males (6'1- 6'9). The size will come. I am projected to have many future growth spurts. In addition to the off-season work with PAC, I have also attended strength and speed classes at PARISI.
I want to attend a school that has a great baseball program and excellent academics as school always comes before everything to my parents and I. I also would prefer a college that is relatively close to home. For example, colleges throughout the Mid-Atlantic, New England, Southeast, and even Mid-West regions. I WILL NOT shut any college out. If there is a perfect fit in California, then I am there! Obviously, for me, the number one goal is to play for a division 1 college. Still, with that being said, I am open to any other colleges at any other level. I am sure the perfect college is out there for me.
It is not if I will play it is where I will play. Many athletes get the "early looks" when they have their growth spurts early and rely on mere size and strength. I thrive on my skill and work ethic, which will then pay-off when the size and strength catches up with me.
I do have a younger brother that plays at an elite level as well. We may look to play somewhere together if the college is right for both of our interests
