Baseball has been one of the most important parts of my life since I first stepped onto the field as a young child. My parents often recount the story of signing me and my twin sister up for tee ball at the age of 4. While other kids played in the dirt or ran the bases backward, I was focused on the ball the entire game.
When I was 6, a friend of the family, who coached a travel team, reached out because he needed a substitute player for a Fall Ball game. The team was an age group two full years older than me and I was seemingly overmatched… until I stepped onto the field. I did what I loved and knew immediately that this was where I belonged. That same weekend, my parents signed me up for a travel team with that organization I had subbed for, and I never looked back. It was in that first travel experience that I realized I had an innate ability for this game and a love of being part of a team of baseball brothers.
The thrill of competition, the camaraderie with teammates, and the pursuit of excellence continue to fuel my passion for the game ten years later, as a Sophomore in high school. I have dedicated myself to becoming the best player I can be, on and off the field. Through countless practices, games, and tournaments, I've developed not only my skills but also the discipline and work ethic needed to compete at a high level. When I made my high school’s Varsity team as a Freshman, I knew that what I had worked for all those years was beginning to come true. It was not easy to walk onto that field of mostly upperclassmen, but I had earned my spot and I wasn’t going to let anything get in the way. As I start my second Varsity season this year, I take pride in my ability to learn from challenges and rise to the occasion.
I understand that academics are equally important and that there is value in balancing education with athletics to prepare for success in college and beyond. While academics have never come as easily to me as baseball has, I try every day to match my on-field performance with my off-field performance.
Playing college baseball is my ultimate dream, what I have always worked so hard to achieve, and I am dedicated to making that a reality. I believe my skills, determination, and dedication will get me there. I am eager to continue growing as a player, student, and well-rounded person, and I am excited about the opportunity to do so at the college level. I aim to contribute to a college team’s success while pursuing my academic goals. Thank you for considering me as a potential part of your program!
