Kellen Golden '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kellen Alexander Golden, and I am in the graduating class of 2019 at Myers Park High School. If you’re interested in an intelligent, hard-working, fearless, team-oriented student-athlete, I am your man. I am a right-handed pitcher, weighing in at 195 pounds and 5 feet 11 inches. I also play First Base. I pride myself on understanding the intricacies of the game. Currently I pitch for Myers Park and play travel ball with a 17U team based out of HQ4, pitching and playing first base. A prime example of my drive to succeed and lack of fear is my success as a relief pitcher in high-stress situations. In our last travel tournament of 2017 I picked up a two-inning save against the top-rated team in North Carolina, pitching 2 scoreless innings to preserve our 4-3 victory

I am not afraid to try new things on and off the field. Athletically and academically very few things have been handed to me. I have maintained a weighted 4.17 GPA through my first three years of high school, taking honors and AP classes. In the classroom, just like on the diamond, I constantly seek out challenges. I completed an Advanced Placement (AP) level Physics course  my Junior year, and am taking AP classes in Physics, Human Geography,  and Calculus my senior year  This will help in the transition from high school to college.

I think that I stand out against other recruits because I have the ability to be a two way player. I also believe that the best athletes are the ones that apply themselves in the classroom.  It teaches good time management skills, and discipline that can be transferred to the baseball field.
