I am a middle infielder and right-handed pitcher from Elizabeth City, North Carolina. I attend the Albemarle School where I am currently playing my first year of high school baseball. I am a freshman and will graduate high school in the year 2020. The only sport I currently play is baseball. I have been playing travel baseball since I was 9. Currently I play travel baseball for the Carolina Titans 2020 showcase team.
Baseball is a huge part of my life. Throughout the years, it has given me many outstanding qualities that would make me a strong asset for your team. It has made me become very self-disciplined to condition and train on my own. It has given me a passion to improve as a player and find ways I could contribute to my team’s success. I feel I would bring good character, tough mental and moral qualities to your team. I have a good natured personality, and get along very well with coaches and teammates. I have a positive attitude and I can follow and take direction.
Having played baseball since I could walk, it has grown to be a major part of who I am. Baseball has taught me the value of teamwork. The team has to work together in order to be successful. This is an important life skill. Baseball has also taught me how to mentally move on. Every at bat is a new opportunity. I have learned to reset and concentrate on the next opportunity. Pitching presents new challenges. I don’t always agree with the call, but I have learned to not show my emotions and continue to play the game. This was a harder lesson to learn but one I am continually working on.
I have also played on an American Legion team in addition to high school and travel ball teams. This allows me to encounter new teammates and continue to work on my game.
I am looking forward to finding a school that will allow me to have a well-rounded college experience consisting of a great education and to follow my lifelong dream of playing baseball at the college level.
Best,
Tanner Simpson
