My earliest memories are baseball. I began attending Braves games and local minor league games as a baby. I began playing little league at the age of 4. I can't imagine a life without baseball. Not only do I love to play, I have to play. My parents often reflect upon my childhood recalling all the countless toys, puzzles, and games I would be showered with for holidays and birthdays. However, I rarely took an interest in them. All I ever needed was a ball. If I wasn't outside playing baseball, playing catch with my Dad, or practicing my swings with a tee and a net, I was inside throwing a rubber ball against the wall to just play catch with myself. I've had a baseball in my hand as long as I can remember. To me baseball is like breathing. In addition to training, strengthening, and playing the game, I love to study the game. I've immersed myself into the sport, not just my favorite team, but the history of the game from it's inception to current day. I'm a student of the game, from the mid 1800s to current day. As young as age seven I was able to interject in conversations with adult strangers who were amazed at the knowledge of the game I held as a mere child.
I'm so grateful for every day I am afforded the opportunity to play baseball. Since age 12, my Mom has said to me, "Be thankful for every day on the field from now on. You aren't in little league anymore. Middle School, High School and Showcase ball is earned. Now you play because someone chose you to play. You earned your spot. You never know when your last day of baseball might be." I never really understood the gravity of this statement until Covid when my spring 2020 season ended after only the third game. Showcase ball was also suddenly shut down. For the first time in my life, I wasn't sure when I'd ever play again. I kept working every day in the hope of baseball's return. I'm so thankful that Summer Showcase ball resumed following the cancellation of the spring high school season. I will never take the privilege of this game for granted again.
In addition to baseball, I have a keen interest in current events. I've had an astute understanding in politics from an unusually early age. I have a strong love and passion for this great nation and her history. My academic goal is to major in political science with a minor in history. I hope to someday participate in politics at the local, state or national level. I seek to become involved in campus leadership at the collegiate level.
It would be an honor to continue to be a part of the greatest game on earth at the next level. I will give my dedication, drive, skill, and passion for baseball to the collegiate team that affords me the opportunity to contribute to their club. I am the consummate team player. Whether on the field or on the bench, I'm cheering the hardest, giving my all to keep the energy high, down to the very last out regardless of the score. I am confident I will offer a big, positive contribution to my next team.
