Sam Schmidt '17 Recruiting Profile

       My name is Sam Schmidt,  I am a 2017 MIF at Hoggard High School and play for the Evoshield Canes Premier Showcase 17U team in the summer and fall.  I'd define myself as a great player with superb grades. I know many kids are like that but they do not have the drive/motivation of me.  Something that I bring to the table every day is effort, I will throw down 110% every day whether its in the weight room, practice, or a game.

       On a personal note, I am playing this sport that I love so much for something bigger than myself; for I am playing for my friend, Zack, who died of cancer at age 12 and was never fortunate enough to live out opportunities like me.  When I feel like there is no gas left in my tank, this is what pushes/drives me to keep going, to never be satisfied.  Lastly, another thing that seperates myself from the pack is work ethic.  This is a concept that I have instilled in myself from a very young age.  I guarantee you that no one will be working harder than me (In offseason training, I do 12 reps because my opponents are doing 11 because they THINK I'm doing 10). 

        As far as my goals at the high school level, I have aspirations of winning a 4A state championship with my high school team and being the best team player/individual player that my team can count on.  As far as academics I excel and have high standards for success.  I carry aspirations of playing baseball at a highly prestigious university (academics and athletics).
