September 2017Personal Statement
My name is Jake Lockyer, I am 17 years old and I live in Peterborough Ontario Canada.
I am a catcher with the Oshawa Legionnaires 17U Elite Baseball Team. Our team plays in the Elite Baseball League of Ontario (EBLO) which is the top 17U baseball league in Ontario Canada for competitive players. I am working hard to achieve my goal of playing College Baseball in the U.S. upon completing high school in 2019.
My coaches will tell you that I am a leader, both on and off the field. I bring a consistent and competitive approach both offensively and defensively to my game. I take the most pride in my defense and my abilities to receive, block and control the running game. This year my average POP time to second base is under 2.0 with my best recorded time at 1.93 seconds. Being a good teammate is of the utmost importance to me as I learned early in my baseball life that being coachable and a good teammate helps a team be successful.

- 2017 Oshawa Legionnaires (16U Elite)
- Team is a 16U Elite Travelling team that plays within the Elite Baseball League of Ontario (Canada). Current regular season/tournament record is 20-12 as of the end of July 2017. Their training camp was held in late August 2016 (for the 2017 season). Participated in Fall Baseball in both Canadian and U.S. tournaments until October 2016. Began 2017 off-season workouts in January 2017, consisting of 1 in-door baseball practice and 1 dry-land weight training/cardio workout per week. Regular season started in May 2017, practice 2 times per week for 2.5 hours each. 2017 season will wrap up in September of 2017.

- Elite Training System is an athletic strength and conditioning facility located in Whitby Ontario Canada, specializing in athletic training for competitive athletes and teams. Attended weekly strength and conditioning workouts as a team from January - April 2017. All training and programs were designed and managed by a registered athletic trainer not affiliated with the ball club.
- 2017 Winter Off Season Strength and Conditioning Training Program
- 1 year
- Weekly (4 times per week) mandatory strength/weight training program designed by coaching staff of baseball team that ran from January - April 2017. Each player was responsible for individual strength/weight training regimen at their local gym. Workouts changed every 2 weeks and were monitored by coaching staff during the off-season.
- Off Season Hitting Instruction
- 1 year
- Attended monthly team hitting instruction at The Competitive Edge located in Ajax Ontario Canada during the winter of 2015.. Competitive Edge is an in-door baseball facility owned and operated by retired MLB player Nigel Wilson. Training included 1 on 1 hitting instruction from Nigel Wilson and staff. Hitting program was advanced level team workouts working on both physical and mental parts of hitting successfully.
