My name is Tyler Wingfield and I am currently going into my senior year at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I discovered Baseball when I was 9 years old, playing in Recreational Leagues for two years until I recognized that I loved it more than anything in the world, and that I wanted to play competitively and be on a team with players who value the game as much as I do.
Throughout my years of playing, I have always been one of the most competitive players on the field and I have carried that same drive and passion with me throughout my time playing, and with my current team.
In the fall of 2019, I joined the 'Toronto Mets' organization, which plays in the Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL), and found it to be a great fit for me as a developing player. In the past two years of playing with the Mets, I secured a spot in the lineup, batting 4th in the order for part of this past season, as well as lead off. This spring/summer (2023), I will be playing with the 'East York Goliaths' (EBLO) here in Toronto, and the 'Southeast Sox' in Georgia.
I know I have an infinite amount of lessons to learn and skills to perfect, and I am ecstatic to continue to maximize my abilities.
As a player and a person, I do not fear failure and instead I see it as something you must overcome and learn from. I am a very coachable athlete and I have an extremely persistent work ethic, allowing me to learn things quickly and to be very versatile. This same persistence and work ethic also carries over into the classroom, as I am a mid 90’s student.
Here are some words that my previous 16u coach and current hitting coach has to say about me:
“I have had the pleasure of working with Tyler the past 5 years. His intent to get better both mentally and physically is adamant. He is a player who you know will max out with effort. Not only that, he is also good with constructive criticism, as he knows he will only grow from it. Athletic OF, strong lefty stick to go with an ever growing knowledge and passion for this beautiful game.”
