Growing up, when my friends and I would play whiffle ball, basketball, football or some other game in the backyard, I always loved competing and giving all my effort to win. As I’ve grown older and learned the process of fighting for a starting spot, the fact that there is someone out there getting better and could take my spot, drives me to get better every day. One of my top priorities has always been competing not only on the field but in the classroom by actively being a good student and making good grades on tests. Thankfully, I’ve been blessed with great parents and coaches who have continually reminded me that student comes before athlete in the title of student athlete. Another top priority of mine is who I represent. The decisions I make everyday and how I carry myself puts a good or bad view on the people I’m representing. In whatever I do, I strive to do my best to represent God as a Christian, my team, and my parents. Coming from an athletic family of coaches and players, I’ve grown up around sports and have been playing baseball and basketball my whole life. Learning from them and being pushed by my older brother to get better has played a big part in who I have become and my continual development as an athlete.
