Hi, my name is Greg Jones. I am 6'2 and 225 lbs. and I play two high school sports at Maryville High School (baseball and football). I am a catcher for my baseball team. I bat left-handed and throw right-handed. I have been considered one of the best competitors and athletes on both of my sports teams, especially my baseball team. Ever since I was little baseball has been my love. It has always been my dream to play Major league baseball. I realize that college is really important to my future success and baseball career. My dream college has always been a southern university because of the weather, competition, and winning traditions. Size is not a major factor, but the level of competition is. I am looking for an opportunity that provides any athlete with the highest possible athletic challenges in the country. Known for the conferences' baseball accomplishments, it is really important to have the ability to compete at a very high level. The better the competition, the better I will become, that's my motto. As a player I am very competitive and love pushing my teammates to their highest potential. Surprisingly, they thank me in the end because they see greatness come out of themselves. Knowing that they have accomplished and excelled in their careers makes me feel like I'm on top of the world. I don't care about championship rings and all the attention, I care about how everyone has done as a team. Being part of a great baseball and a two-time state championship football team has made me realize hard work is the key to success. Before I entered Maryville High School as a freshman, my brother was a senior. Their football team won 74 games in a row without losing. It was the longest streak in the nation for 24 hours. Unfortunately, they lost in the state championship the next night to give them their first loss in 5 years. The day after the game I talked to my brother about it, and he told me things don't come naturally, but they do come with hard work and dedication from everyone on a team. That's how we won all those games. In return he made me realize I needed to work harder to be as successful in every sport I played, just like they did in football.
