Playing college baseball would be a dream come true. If I had the chance to play, I would realize that I have overcome a significant obstacle in my life that started at a very young age. In the second grade, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I had never heard of this at that age, and I definitely did not know what to expect or how it would affect my everyday learning. Over the years, I have found ways that work to help me get past the difficulties that come with having dyslexia. Going into my senior year of high school, I plan on graduating on the A/B Honor Roll or better.
In developing ways to deal with my dyslexia, I have learned that I can overcome any struggle that may lie ahead. I approach playing baseball with the same mentality I came to coping with my dyslexia if I set my mind to it... I can do it. I believe that attitude plays a massive role in how you approach games and life in general. I lead any team I play with by example and help maintain the morale of the group to help us achieve our goal of winning. I've learned that you cannot be scared to take on challenges, be it another team or a learning disability. I have had to push myself in school and transfer to the field as a baseball player. I believe that I will bring this same leadership and drive to my team at the college level and will help everyone around me grow as a player.
