Derek can be contacted at: [email protected] or 832-381-7443. Was out for the 2020 season after shoulder surgery on Dec. 4, 2019. Starting back up with Atlanta Blue Jay's in the summer of 2020.
My name is Derek Brieden and I am a RHP in the class of 2021. I am 6'3' and 200 pounds. I go to Caney Creek HS and play club ball for the Atlanta Blue Jays in Georgia (Summer 2019 and 2020) and the Sons of Thunder in Texas. I have been playing since I was in T-ball and was named to the top 2021 prospects list for the 2018 PG National Underclass South Showcase. I got a 1400 on my SAT in my junior year, have a 4.71 weighted GPA, and am ranked #1 in my class of 534 (UPDATE: 1400 on SAT junior year and now ranked #1 in my class). I also played basketball as a starter on my JV team and am the class treasurer. During my sophomore year, I was the Friday night starter on the varsity baseball team and was named as a honorable mention all-district pitcher. I ended the year with a 2.36 era in 47.1 innings pitched and struck out 62 batters with a 1.20 whip.
2018 PERFECT GAME NATIONAL UNDERCLASS SOUTH SHOWCASE: Derek Brieden is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 6-2 168 lb. frame from Conroe, TX who attends Caney Creek HS. Long and lanky pitcher's build, lots of physical projection and room to get stronger. Simple and repeatable delivery mechanics, arm is loose and whippy coming through 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, lots more velocity potentially in there with additional strength, heavy lively fastball shows consistent hard run and sink. Cut fastball/slider was his out pitch, has late biting action and is thrown with purpose and power. Sweeping curveball with 2/8 shape. Poised pitcher who works with a plan and pitches to spots. Follow closely for further development. Very good student. Named to the 2018 National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
