Hi, my name is Francisco Javier Guerrero III, but I go by Javier or Javi. From the young age of 5, baseball became my passion. Even though I was physically small and younger than my peers, it drove me to practice and play harder. At about the age of 8, I was coached by someone who I have a lot to thank for. He coached and motivated me to be the ball player I am today. As I mentioned I have always been on the younger and smaller side compared to my peers I played with and against. That did not stop me from going out there and giving it my all. I may have not been a starting player at a young age or played much, but I was determined to play. That determination now has gotten me to where I am today. I always give my all when playing and it gave me the opportunity to learn every position and to fill in when needed. When I was about 12 is when I feel like I came out of my shell, and even though I was still small, I became a starting player.
Through baseball I learned many valuable lessons. I learned the value of friendship and connecting with others. I have built lasting friendships from playing with not only my teammates but opposing players. I consider my teammates like my extended family. Teamwork and leadership is an important lesson I have learned from baseball because it not only has helped me on the field but as well as in the classroom and in life. I was taught to always be a role model, lead by example, to respect the game and to be humble. The game taught me at a young age that failure is ok and always respect the outcome no matter what it is. That motivated me to be self-disciplined and to set goals. I have learned through playing baseball that if you want something you set goals and work hard for it. Academically I have been placed with struggles but have overcome them. I have learned to adapt with my learning disability and take a lot of what I have learned on the field to the classroom. I have set goals for myself and I am proud to say that I am succeeding. It hasn’t always been easy for me but I never gave up and had teachers and family that motivated me. I plan to further my education after high school with a degree in business or education.
I have relocated to Coppell, TX and I am attending Coppell High School.
