My name is Daren Elian Barrera. I am 6"3' 215 lbs. baseball player. I started playing baseball at 10 years old after my parents were able to stop working two jobs and had the chance to put me on a team. Soon, we realized that even though I was a novice baseball player, I quickly rose to the top with hard work and training. Shortly after, I was asked to be part of many select teams but decided to play with the Young Guns. I was a championship pitcher and 3rd baseman. We also traveled to ESPN Center in Florida where I pitched the Championship game and won the World Series. At 14 years old, I was selected to be part of the All-American team and received the Gold Glove Award. As a freshman in high school, I made the varsity team and was a starting pitcher and 1st baseman. I received the Newcomer of the Year award in the district. I had 7 wins with a 2.23 ERA and lead my team to the playoffs for the 1st time in 3 years. My fastball was from 82-85. I also tried out for the Banditos Scout Team and made it. I was only able to play two games, but I had great pitching outings. One was a combined shut out. Now as a sophomore, my fast ball is 85-87. Our season was not complete, but I did get to accumulate 23 strikeouts before the season ended. I also made the PG/Rawlings Preseason selection list. I am hardworking individual. I'm dedicated to baseball and studying. I constantly work on finding new ways to improve my velocity. I've had the opportunity to train at the Baseball Ranch and Top Velocity Lab. Currently, I continue to play with the Banditos Scout Team for the summer. When I'm not traveling for baseball, I train at VZLA Academy with strength and conditioning coach and a pitching coach. I aspire to make it to the next level. Now entering my junior year, I am currently seeking to be part of a university with a great pitching program and great educational school. With my strong work ethics, I hope to make it to next level and the MLB. Nothing is given in life, we need to work hard to achieve our goals. There is also no doubt that it has taken a community to help me get to where I currently stand.
