Hi, I am Bennett Brewer. I started playing baseball when I was six years old and fell in deeply and hopelessly in love. I was the kid that waited on the curb for his Dad to get home from work, holding two gloves and a ball. Before he could get out of the car, I was pestering him to play catch. While I have grown older and taller, my passion for the game has grown even more. And yes, still pester my Dad to play catch every chance I get.
Hitting has been my strong suit since Coach Pitch baseball. I am a hitter that is fortunate to hit for both average and power. I am usually in the top 2-3 XBH hitters on the team, and often the leader in that category. The same is true for batting average. I love hitting and study it. I am told that my ability to 'self diagnose and correct' my swing is unusual, but mechanical mistakes feel obvious to me when I don't get the results I wanted. I love working on my swing, and love teaching others how to improve their own swing. It feels great when my help results in success for my teammates.
Defensively, I played Shortstop all through Little League but moved to First when my team needed me there in Middle School. First was new to me, so I put the work in to learn the position, the footwork, and the digs. I have been told that I've become a "top notch" First Baseman, and really enjoy playing there. I still continue to do my best to get better at that position every day. Still, some days I find myself elsewhere on the field. I've always told coaches that I "want to play wherever you need me", so while I am primarily a 1B guy now, I get reps at Third, OF, and a good bit of time at Pitcher. I really like pitching and have had some good success on the mound. I am working with a private coach to increase my velocity, which would be a great addition to my effective off-speed pitches.
I think I would be a good candidate for your team because I am a leader, I have an upbeat attitude, work hard, and have a lot of hustle. I try my best to be a good teammate and lift guys up that are having a bad day. I am also a Life Scout working on earning my Eagle Scout rank, which I should have at the beginning of 2023. Thank you for taking time to learn about me and my game, and look forward to talking with you further!
