Personal Statement

I began swinging a baseball bat at the age of 16 months, albeit a foam bat, but a bat, nonetheless.  The pop of the glove, the crack of the bat, the camaraderie and brotherhood that evolves with teammates; I have had the love of the game my entire life.  The life lessons baseball teaches a person has significantly molded who I am today.  I am a very hard worker on and off the field, I’m extremely competitive and I am a dedicated teammate.  I understand hard work and leadership rears positive outcomes whether that is in the classroom, on the field, or in life. I am blessed with a loving and supportive family, great friendships, and the opportunity to play with a top baseball organization.

I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically.  I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.

  • Truett is a coachable C that attended the Pre-Season Rookie All-American event. Behind the plate Truett sets up in his stance receiving the ball with a firm and confident mitt. He gets into a good secondary as he works to throw to 2B. He makes his exchange getting rid of the ball with a clean arm action and delivers the ball to the bag with accuracy. Blocking, he shows effective footwork as he works laterally to keep the ball in front. Hitting, Truett sets up with loose and comfortable hands taking a simple load and getting his foot down on time. He rotates against a firm front side delivering a compact swing making consistent contact using a gap to gap approach. Truett showed well in Florida and we look forward to seeing his progress.

  • Catcher Pop Time: 2.13: Batting Scale Grade: 60 on 20/80 scale (has as very high ceiling): Batting Comments: Stays inside the baseball very well. Very short to the ball, and does a great job of keeping his head down. Very impressed with how well he hits the ball the other way. Had the best swing out of the younger Bluechips group. Scout Remarks: There is something special about this young man that makes him a must follow on our list. Great catchers are hard to come by these days and by his workout he has the upside to play the game at a very high level. Keep working to get stronger! We will definitely follow his progression, can't wait to see this young mas as he develops! *PROSPECT*

  • Truett Ross is a 2023 C/3B, OF with a 5-5 129 lb. frame from Seabrook, TX who attends Clear Lake. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 8.35 seconds. Hits from even-based stance, loads back early, keeps weight back, lets the ball get deep and shows middle/opposite field approach, line drive swing plane, flashes contact skills. Primary catcher, stays down and uses game actions in drills, soft hands, quick feet and transfer, clocked up to 67 mph on throws to 2B, good developing tools. Takes quick steps and stays balanced coming in on the ball in the outfield, stays compact through footwork and arm stroke, clocked up to 66 mph. Also threw 63 mph across the infield from the left side. Very good student.

Make sure to long toss weekly to build up arm strength. HIT TING: 3 out of 5 HITTING STRENGTHS: Has a great bat path, uses all sides of the field well. Has great bat speed and a very good mechanical swing for his age. Very good extension through his swing. HITTING WEAKNESSES: Needs to work on staying back and also his weight transfer.
