What makes me different from other recruits? I will do absolutely anything to succeed. I'm not the tallest guy out there, but that doesn't matter. I will work 3x harder than anybody else. I want to succeed as bad as I want to breathe.
My sophomore year in high school I suffered a season ending injury that could have paralyzed me. I was catching and was chasing after a foul ball. I didn't realize how close I was to the brick wall when I dove headfirst. I smashed up my face pretty good. I had a bad concussion, lost some teeth, and bit through my lip. The first thing I said when I woke up on the field was, "Did I catch it?" I tried to get up and walk off on my own power, but the trainers and coaches wouldn't let me. I spent the night in the hospital and was sidelined from the game for months. I've had 2 surgeries and got braces since then.
You have no idea how bad I wanted to get back on the field. During my time off all I could think about was baseball. I don't realize how much you truly love something until it's taken away from you. That accident was the best thing that has ever happened to me. It rekindled my love for the game and toughened me up quite a bit. So much in fact that I can hardly feel pain anymore. Just recently, I had a root canal and was at the gym not more than 20 minutes afterwards. Even though I was all numb and swollen, I made sure I got my workout in.
I played baseball all Summer long and I am as good as new. Maybe even better. I love this game and will do anything to play it.
I maintain good grades in school and stay out of trouble. I am the president of the Atascocita High School FCA. I have spoken for FCA before and I love preaching the gospel. I'm also in the Atascocita Body Building Society. On Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Fall and Spring baseball seasons I volunteer for the Austin Reinets Memorial League. The ARM League is 2 teams made of mentally and physically challenged kids. As volunteers we help the kids run the bases, hit, and field. It's a lot of fun and it really rekindles your love for the game of baseball.
